Annabel Lobe
Annabel first opened the Safety First Swim School in 2012. Having taught in the classroom for over 30 years, she has drawn on her solid understanding of child development and used her creativity to build a progressive and unique program where children discover the joy of swimming in a safe and supportive environment that meets the needs and challenges of each individual swimmer.
Annabel has a state-of-the-art program where children learn through play, games, and imagery as they develop comfort and confidence in the water. Once swimmers have built a solid core of swim and safety skills, they go on to develop endurance and proficiency in competitive-style swim strokes.
Mike Rac
Mike Rac is a former Division 1 college swimmer, a veteran instructor, and the father of a 2.5-year-old mini-swimmer. Mike has been in the aquatic industry since 1997, serving as director, operations manager, swim & lifeguard instructor & professional coach. His work with children encompasses a wide range of ages and skill levels, including infants and toddlers. At the top level, Mike has trained a number of decorated athletes. Mike takes great pride in each individual’s personal achievements while building lifelong skills and creating a safe and fun learning environment.
Charmaine Rostien
Charmaine is a graduate of the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor’s program. She taught at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center before joining the team at Safety First Swimming. Charmaine is the mother of two boys; she brings her expertise, enthusiasm & passion for teaching to our program.
Dawn Patterini
Dawn is a Special Education teacher working at the Elementary level in Anne Arundel County. She has logged many hours in the water, both as a competitive swimmer & an instructor. Dawn is a creative & gifted instructor who strives to bring out the best in each child. Dawn has been with Safety First for almost four years.
Christine Zilliox
Christine is a former High School and College Swimmer. She has spent her entire career in the aquatics industry, teaching and coaching at all levels and managing a variety of aquatic facilities.
She is currently a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, Water Aerobics Instructor, and Babysitting Training Instructor. Christine will be a fabulous addition to our program!
